When going wedding dress shopping you want to make sure you have all the necessary information to make the right decision about one of the most important aspects of your special day. In order to make this experience as stress-free as possible,we have put together a few questions that you should consider asking:
- What fabric is being used on the dress you like?
You are going to want to know the fabric to know what type of veil would look best with your dress.
- Is the dress special order or sample?
If the dress is special order you should consider that it will most likely arrive in 6-9 months after ordering. A sample dress is often bought off the rack, which means you get to take it home on the same day.
- What color is the dress? (Ivory, champagne, soft white…)
Wedding dresses come in different tones of white. Many people often see it as white or off white but there are actually different tones of white. This information is important if you are planning on getting your dressed lined or getting a veil of a similar color. Here at Posh we carry dresses that range in colors like Off White, Cashmere, Champagne and Ivory. Also, we have many dresses that have two or three of these colors in different layers.
- How long does it take for the dress to get here?
If your dress is a special order it is important to ask these questions to your stylist. Here at Posh our dresses typically take 6-9 months to arrive to the store. Keep in mind that because of COVID-19 dresses are taking a bit longer to arrive.
- What customizations can I make to a gown?
During your appointment with us we will guide you through all of this. This is a good question to ask because oftentimes a dress can be changed to make it more to your liking. For example, at Posh we often get brides that want to change the color of their dress. This is something that can be done in almost any special order dress. Also, with one of our designers, they offer complete customization – ie, color chage, bodice change, add sleeves, add straps, change silhouette, etc. If you wanted a neck line from one gown and the skirt from another we can order it to be that way. Make sure to ask this questions because the possibilities are endless.
- Are alterations done in the store?
Currently we don’t have a seamstress in store. We do have a few that we always recommend our guests as they have worked on our gowns for years. We use Amazing Alterations in Anoka and Imagine Stitch in Medina.
- Do you ship dresses?
We are currently shipping dresses. Due to COVID-19 we understand that traveling can be hard during this time. With this said, it is important to understand that when brides pick up their dress at our store they get to try it on with us and we can help talk through alterations as well as coordinate those appts.
- What are your return policies?
All of the purchases here at Posh are final sales – no cancellations/exchanges/modifications. When you place a special order at Posh, the gown is made specifically for you. If your wedding gets cancelled or postponed we always recommend selling it online & can give you options to do that.
